Coffee. There are times when you’ll drink anything by that name out of sheer desperation for the caffeine hit. The instant stuff. Even servo sludge. But for the other times – you know, when you feel like drinking a cup that actually tastes good – then there are only a handful of cafés in Perth worth visiting. Cimbalino is one of them.
Affectionately known as Cimba’s, Cimbalino is a locally owned espresso bar beloved for coffee that’s quick and consistently delicious. The Cottesloe shop on Napolean Street is the haunt of lycra-covered cycling gangs whose bikes are forever stacked outside, the CBD shop has earned the loyalty of hoards of suits and ties and at the Dalkeith café, local lunching ladies keep the baristas busy.
Cimbalino’s newest café is in the Mews Shopping Centre in Cottesloe. Like the other locations, the café has chic neighbours (Lulemon is next door), fresh squeezed juices, a glass case crammed with homemade cakes, biscuits, wraps and muffins and a full menu of breakfast faves like Eggs Benedict – a Chimba specialty – Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo and Swiss Bircher Muesli.
But most importantly, the coffee is fantastic. Now if only they made sachets of Instant Cimba Coffee for emergencies…
