Hotdogs are capable of conjuring up the happiest of memories: backyard summer barbeques, that trip to New York City and childhood birthday parties. They’re cheap and tasty – so much so that you overlook those unavoidable stubborn stains from that hard-to-eliminate combination of mustard, ketchup and relish.
The owners of a new South Fremantle eatery love hotdogs too. So much, in fact, that they devoted their entire restaurant to them.
Run Amuk serves hotdogs made from high quality, locally made bratwurst sausages that comprise 70% pork, 30% beef and a blend of herbs and spices. Their chutneys, relishes, produce and cheeses – also all locally sourced – are what turn an otherwise tasty hotdog into a taste explosion.
Take the “Tom Foolery” which contains a premium bratwurst, punchy tamarind chutney, aged cheddar, diced pink lady apple and baby spinach. Or the exhilaratingly spicy “Dare Devil” which includes a premium bratwurst, two specialty chilli sauces, lightly caramelised onions, aged cheddar, baby spinach, sliced green chillies and sour cream. See? These are not your average hotdogs.
The vegetarians haven’t been neglected. Any hotdog on the menu can be made with Run Amuk’s organic vegan sausages.
Forget New York – we reckon the best hotdogs can be found right on our doorstep.
